The Ministry has become The Republic

only my husband would use a Star Wars reference to describe the state of the Ministry of Magic in the Harry Potter book he's currently reading (Order of the Phoenix). The sickest part is that I got it. That's all he said and I knew exactly what he meant. We then had an in-depth discussion about it. I just didn't think it was a proper reference, as it's actually the Empire that is corrupt. But, he says that the Empire was originally the Republic which essentially mutated, so it was a fine reference if you have a full understanding of the way things were. Dear God, he's sucked me in. I've always been a nerd, but he's taken me to a level I never could have imagined.
